Today's run reminds me why I do it. I was a little worried about soreness in the leg area because I've been having major problems with shin splints and extrememly tight muscles lately so I went out really slowly. There was still a little bit of tightness there for the whole run, but nothing debilitating like Monday. I still ended up shortening my usual loop a bit and running the whole thing slower because I just wanted to take it easy, be sure everything was properly.

And it was beautiful at this morning. Accuweather told me it was a cool 60 degrees, but in the sun I'd say it was closer to 70. But it was still beautiful out there was just the slightest breeze and running in both the shade and the sun was enjoyable. It's so nice to see the temps starting to come down a little bit. I hope it stays nice and cool for a while now.

Marathon is officially in like three weeks. I'm nervous though because I kind of feel like all this lower leg pain is going to be a pretty big set back in training. I rescheduled the 20 miles I missed last week when I was in Texas for this weekend, and I'm so nervous about how that's going to go.

I can't believe after all this time training, the event is finally getting to be here. Only a few more weeks and this whole journey will be over. Not that I'll stop running. It will just be different because I won't have a specific race to be training for. (I won't miss losing a large chunk of my Saturdays to long runs though.) It's crazy to think I started training back in April and now it's almost October and time for the real deal.

It's good to be back to blogging. I missed it. Everything seems to be falling back into place after a few very strange out of whack weeks. I think I'm starting to find a sense of normalcy again. Thank goodness for that.

  1. Try using Epson salt when you have sore leg muscles plus make sure that you are stretching too. After the long runs, try taking an ice bath as well, if you can.

The time will fly by before you know it.
