Healthy Indulgences

Sometimes it's OK to come home from a long Monday at work and eat an ice cream sundae for dinner.

Indulging every so often is healthy.

And while ice cream for dinner definitely wasn't the most nutritious option I could have selected, it made me feel better.

Sure, there were plenty of "healthier" ways I could have de-stressed last night. I could have gone for a run, I could have curled up with a good book or made something healthy for dinner. But ice cream was just calling my name and I think every once in a while it's OK to indulge a craving for something unhealthy.

Overall, I think it's perceived as a bit taboo by society at large to use food for comfort or to de-stress.

But what's more healthy? Constantly depriving yourself and being miserable all the time or letting yourself enjoy life's less nutritious, but very delicious treats?

If you're making nutritious choices about food most of the time, there's absolutely nothing wrong with indulging. In fact, I think it's healthy to indulge. Or else we'd all be a bunch of big cranky jerks all the time.

How do you indulge?
