Back from Charleston!

Sorry to drop off the face of the Earth after telling you all about my super fun Japan trip! The end of this month got a little crazy with the end of the semester and some more crazy travel I had on my schedule.

I just got back from a week in Charleston for work where I was giving a presentation at the DIG South conference.

The presentation itself was on Tuesday and then I got to spend the rest of the week learning from some other really smart people at the conference.

I pretty much fell in love with Charleston while I was there. It's a picture perfect city and is the perfect combo of beach paradise and city living. I was so lucky that the weather was basically perfect while I was there.

My hotel was right downtown -- walking distance to basically everything.

I squeezed in a really great five mile run one of the mornings when I was there. I ran through lots of the downtown and all along the water. It was all just so pretty, and I love the opportunity to explore a new place on foot.

Plus it was probably one of the best runs I've had in a while. My quad that I pulled in softball last week was totally fine. My hip, which has been nagging me since before Thanksgiving, didn't give me any problems.

Five miles was definitely the longest distance that I covered in a while, so I certainly took a few walk breaks, but it made me think that maybe this awful semester at school didn't completely destroy my running base. There's still some muscle memory there, and maybe I can build on that this summer, when things are hopefully a little more chill school-wise.

Plus, while I was there, I ate so much amazing food, and I got to grab dinner with a family friend from PA who lives in Charleston now. It was great to catch up with her!

And now I'm only back in DC for another day before jetting over to Ireland for a week with friends. So I'll be disappearing for a bit again, but then once I'm back, hopefully I'll have some really fun posts for you!

Yes, Charleston is a most excellent choice for a work trip. A pretty city with great food and nice weather is hard to beat. Very cool to be a speaker and presenter at a conference! It was good to hear that your five mile run went so well and especially that the hip is better!! :). Have a fun and safe trip to Ireland! :)

  2. Charleston is an amazing city! My brother has lived there since the 90's, and I get down a few times a year to race and visit them. So glad that you got to see such a special part of the south.
