Welcome to the start of a new week. It's another bitterly cold one in DC...seriously where is summer?

I had the day off on Friday so I went to hang out with my cousin to give her a hand with the twins. When I got there she had them dressed in their little Terps outfits.

Unfortunately even the boys in their cute outfits cannot seem to bring any luck to the Terps. Our basketball team is just straight up atrocious. We're talking might not even make the NIT levels of bad here.

So it's no surprise that we lost again at home this weekend to Pitt. It's been a depressing year to be a season ticket holder.

And since I refuse to end this post on such a depressing note, here's another cute baby picture for you of Patrick snoozing on Laura.

As much as I love the ability to work from home, after three days cooped up in my apartment -- seeing no one other than the guy at my front desk -- I decided I needed to get out of the house yesterday for work. I'm an extrovert and I need to be around people.

So I took my home office and moved it to Panera, where I drank many mugs of warm tea and settled in for the day.



The change of scenery was nice.

Unfortunately when I got home from Panera, I walked in to a disaster in my kitchen.



RIP Crock Pot :(

Maintenance had been in my apartment during the day to fix a light switch issue in my bathroom, and I'm guessing when they slammed the door shut as they were leaving, the rattling knocked my Crock Pot out of the dryer rack on my counter and sent it crashing to the floor.

I literally wanted to cry. I love my Crock Pot more than any other kitchen appliance I own since I use it pretty much every single week to make dinner. After being irrationally sad, I hopped on the Interwebz and ordered myself a new one. I will have it tomorrow -- just in time to make more delicious food for the upcoming week. Seriously, I don't know how I'd survive without it.

In other news, yesterday after work I also had my doctor's appointment for my foot.

I'm getting pretty used to this routine by now. Fill out a bunch of papers, explain pain, go do some X-rays, pray it's not broken.



And hey this time, it's actually not a stress fracture! Whooo!

Instead it's a wicked case of plantar fascitiis. My doc said it's most likely tied to my extremely tight calves. No matter how much I stretch them, I can't seem to get them loose, and since everything down there is all connected, she thinks the tightness in my calves is causing the tightness in my foot.

So she set me up with some stretches and other exercises to do for the next 4-6 weeks that should help, and conveniently I already had a sports massage scheduled for tonight for my back, so I can just ask my massage therapist to spend some extra time on my calves as well.

My doctor also suggested I get some inserts for both my running and regular shoes to help support my arch and absorb some of the shock and pressure.

So I guess we'll see what happens. Here's hoping the exercises and stuff pay off!

I know, with a title like that, I must have one heck of a workout for you guys right?

Welllll how does spending 90 minutes jumping on trampolines at a giant trampoline park sound?



If it sounds like the best, most fun workout ever, well you'd be right!

So apparently, giant trampoline parks are a thing, and over the weekend, my college roommates and I got together to try out Skyzone -- a trampoline park that opened recently in Columbia, Md.

We bought a 90-minute block of time in advance (it cost about $20), and all we had to do when we showed up on Sunday was sign a waiver, listen to a brief presentation on the rules and put on our fancy jumping socks.



Then we were set free to either jump on the wall-to-wall trampolines, flip off trampolines into a giant foam pit, show off our sweet moves on the basketball court or play dodgeball on trampolines.

I think the only thing we didn't do was dodgeball. There were lots of kids parties that day, and they had booked the dodgeball room.

I was pretty OK with that though, it left us plenty of time to play on all the other trampolines.

Skyzone definitely draws a ton of kids and families. On the day we were there, we were definitely in the minority compared to all the little kids running around. But as we were walking out, I did see Skyzone offers trampoline workout classes, so it's not just a place for kids and families. I just imagine on a weekend afternoon, that's probably the biggest draw.

By the end of our 90 minutes, we were all dripping in sweat and huffing and puffing. All the jumping was a killer workout.

Overall we had a great time trying out Skyzone. It was definitely something fun and different to do, and if there's a giant trampoline park near you, I highly recommend you try it out!
