I'm learning
I'm learning there are good days and there are bad days when it comes to PT. After the excitement of Monday's run, I was pretty disappointed when PT on Monday and Tuesday didn't go well.
There was a lot of pain in my knee and I couldn't run on the treadmill for the five minutes either day.
On Tuesday one of the therapists watched my form from the back and said part of my problem may be that my hips collapse in when I run, which puts additional strain on my knees.
Now we've added a bunch of hip strengthening exercises to the regime.
This morning's session went better. I was able to run for the five minutes at 7 mph.
The downside was I found out I'm probably going to need another three or four weeks of therapy. My doc had originally told me I'd only need four, but I guess after three weeks, there's still a lot more work to do.
It's frustrating news, but I'm trying to keep my chin up about it. I have homework to try to run again this weekend. Again I have another crazy crazy weekend that starts tomorrow.
I'll be down in the D.C./Baltimore area for my friend's bachelorette party and then Saturday I'm supposed to grab lunch with a friend back here before heading back to Baltimore with another set of friends for Artscape. And maybe somewhere in there a friend from home is supposed to come visit. Oh and I totally want to see The Dark Knight. Batman was my favorite super hero as a little kid! Yikes! I'm going to need a weekend to relax from my weekend!

Keep that chin up with the PT, I am sure it will be for the best. I was listening to Howard this am(yes I am still gross like that for a SAHM) and he and Robin both agreeded it was FANTASTIC except for that chick can't think of her name. Anywhoo have a great weekend and live it up at the bachelorette party!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great with PT... a little extra can only help.
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready for the Dark Knight myself!
LMAO at Viv. Aren't all SAHM's gross? :P
ReplyDeleteYou're smart to realize the ups and downs that come with PT. Hang in there chica!! ;D Back to it in no time ;-)
Hang in there with the PT, you're making progress and doing it all the right way.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're going to have a fun weekend! Have fun with your man, Robin!
Just take it slow, chica. The more you learn about yourself, the more a running machine you will become! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll be back! Same bat time, same bat channel!!
BAM! KAPOW! SPLAT!
ReplyDeleteTelevision was awesome back then.
I know it's hard not to get frustrated with the pt but in the end it will be so worth it and you will be stronger then ever!!
ReplyDeleteThink of extra PT as a good thing...hink of it as three more weeks of knowledtge!
ReplyDeleteI have a busy weekend too...I might need a weekend, weekend too!
Take Care!
I'm glad your PTs are looking beyond the knees. Get those hips strong. It will make a huge difference! Think positive - I know it's hard to do right now!
ReplyDeleteLike you said, it's ups and downs with PT, but they can fix you up, it just takes time. Hanga in there.
