Backing Off

I've been trying and failing to get into a good workout routine while I've been injured.

I was doing the bike fairly regularly for a while there, but then I sort of let that drop.

I swam for a bit, but haven't made it back to the pool, in maybe two weeks.

When the doctor said I could probably try the elliptical last week, I was excited to be able to get a new workout option to work into my routine. I did two really great workouts, but then I was getting concerned that I was making my foot worse or slowing my healing process.

Gym time selfies are back. Cleared to try the elliptical.

Some days my foot is totally fine, but other days just being on my feet and walking to meetings in the office makes it hurt.

That was the case Tuesday. I had every intention of squeezing in a quick elliptical workout before my fantasy draft, but by the time I got home from work, my foot was sore. It wasn't a sharp biting pain, but walking around wasn't comfortable either. So I decided to back off.

I thought maybe I could bump the workout to yesterday morning, but then I woke up and got really worried that maybe I just need to let it rest. I want my foot to heal and maybe the elliptical isn't really helping things.

As impatient as I am to get back to regular workouts and doing the things I love, maybe I just need to let the bone stimulator do its thing and I need to stay off my feet as much as possible.

Let the bone stimulation treatments begin!

I'm over it. #frustrated.

  1. I feel you..when I'm injured I'd rather just do nothing and let it heal than do some cross-training activity and be anxious about it the whole time. No worries, it'll get better soon. Hang in there!

  2. Hope it heals in super fast fashion. Nothing worse than wishing you could do more and your body is like "shut the hell up and let me rest".
