The Best Sports Bra I've Ever Worn

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I feel it's as good a time as ever to talk about boob health. And I don't really mean the cancer prevention stuff (though that's all really important too).

I'm more talking picking the right sports bra to protect the girls while you're working out.

I've been wearing Champion sports bras (not the ones you get from Target, the real ones) for as long as I can remember. Probably back to my days as a pre-teen playing basketball in middle school. So when I eventually picked up distance running in college, I stuck with the same bra.

What I love about Champion bras is that they are seamless, so they don't chafe. I've worn other bras where the bands have literally rubbed my skin raw until it bled (pretty mental image right there) and I've never once experienced chafing with my Champion bras, even on my hottest, longest runs during marathon training.

Champion rates its bras based on level of support, which I love.

As someone who is rather well-endowed in that department, I need a bra with MAX support or else my boobs will literally hit me in the face when I run. And all that bouncing just hurts.

For years, I'd been wearing the basic pull-over your head sports bra. It had no bells and whistles, but it came in a million colors and got the job done. I loved it, and every time I'd hit the Champion outlet with my mom I would stock up. I probably own three times more sports bras than regular bras.

When my family and I were on vacation in Rehoboth this summer, we hit the outlets on one of the rainy days and I stopped in Champion to of course pick up some more sports bras. I got a few of my usuals, but then I also saw that there was a different kind on sale for really cheap.

It was a racerback and had a clasp in the back. I had always been wary of sports bras with clasps because it was just one more place to introduce possible chafing, but the price was so good, that I figured I'd pick one up and give it a try.

And after running in it a few times, I have to say, I absolutely love it.

It's more supportive than the regular pull-overs and it came up higher too. Literally nothing moved when I ran. No bounce, no pain and most importantly, no chafing.

I actually hopped over to Champion's site this morning to find a picture for this post and saw the bras were on super sale ($19.99!), so I think I'm going to pick up a few.

Are you loyal to one brand of sports bra? What's your favorite?

Champion didn't pay me to say anything nice about them. This is just a product I've used every day for years and totally love.

  1. It was recommended to me to wear Moving Comfort at my local running store and ever since I tried it on and jumped around in it I can't picture wearing another one!

  3. I tried on a Moving Comfort bra once years ago, but for whatever reason it wasn't comfortable on me. I know lots of people have success with them though.
