Speedy run and other stuff

by - Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Last night I wanted to try to repeat last week's speedy run. My goal was to do 3 miles at a 9 minute pace. I didn't quite make it, logging the three miles in 27:55, but still that's not too bad for me. Plus there are many, many hills on the course I run, so I had to stop and walk twice because the uphills were killing me.

But overall it was a good hard run.

I forgot to mention that over the weekend, BF and I went shopping for running gear. BF was in need of some tech tops for summer running and all the bouncing around with Jillian has proved to me that I really, really needed some new sports bras.

We hit the Under Armour outlet first where I found one sports bra and four pairs of socks and BF found some shorts. However, it was only a mildly successful trip. I was a little let down by the lack of awesome sales that I usually find there.

We hit Sports Authority afterward where we were both much more successful. I found two more sports bras, a really cute pair of Nike shorts and a champion top. BF found three or four tech tops and a golf glove (not at all running related, but something he needed.)

My haul:

Champion wicking top
Nike shorts
Three sports bras, two Champion, one Under Armour

Registration for Virginia Beach is coming up soon and then before you know it BF and I will both be in official training! Craziness!

As for today, I'm teaching yoga tonight and trying to fit some Jillian in as well. If you didn't catch yesterday's yoga questions post, go check it out and leave me some good questions.

  3. Can't go wrong with Nike tempo shorts! Although I kind of wish they had a pocket on them for gels/chews/etc. Looks like you're set for some summer running!

  6. Congrats on the shopping spree but I have to admit I just don't GET it cos when Teh 'Bride comes home with a bunch of stuff and says, "Lookit! Lookit! Lookit what I bought and I SAVED US SO MUCH MONEY!11!" I'm all "Yes, dear" <--and that probably reads more exciting than it sounds when I say it. (And I'm also thinking, "It doesn't matter HOW much the prices were REDUCED, you didn't SAVE us money by buying that stuff" but I'm not stupid enough to say THAT part outloud.)

But okay so you skirts love shopping so I'll just say good job and congrats.

    Myself, I like beer.

  11. Hi Jess

First off, thank you for being so nice on my blog. Yes, my Boston '09 was a bummer, but just being there is such a great thing.

Thanks for the offer in regard to D.C. We did pretty well today despite my hacking cough and people staring at me like I had the plague (I don't think its the plague??). Anyway, we did Air and Space, Natural History, and the Art Gallery along with the Sun 3D Imax and the Undersea 3D Imax. Not a bad haul considering my amazing health right now.

Congrats on all the new gear. I think as dedicated runners that is truly one of the things we should be able to splurge on.

You'll get that 9 minute pace.
