Tailgates + Races = Awesome Weekends

Guys I'm freakishly excited for this weekend for a lot of reasons.

First, I have a Terps tailgate tomorrow. It's been three weeks since our last tailgate because we were away and had a bye week, and it's been far too long since I've been hanging out with some of my favorite people eating delicious food and sipping mimosas in a parking lot.

Also it's the start of ACC play, and we open our conference schedule with a sort of beatable opponent.

After getting majorly daggered by the Harrison twins' announcement to go to UK instead of UMD, I could use a Terps win this weekend.

But the reason I'm most excited for this weekend is that I'm finally racing again! It's been way wayyyy too long since I've felt the nerves of starring at a start line and felt the relief and accomplishment of crossing a finish line.

I'm running the Woodrow Wilson Half Marathon this weekend with Megan and Zach. It is a smaller race that's slowing becoming one of my favorite races in the area.

I'm not actually running this race for time this year (though that's what I said last year and I set a 6 minute PR...). Instead I'm treating it like a long run. I need to get 15 miles in this weekend, so my plan is to run two miles before the start and then just relax and roll through the course.

Cross the finish line, collect my medal, go home and watch the Eagles beat the Steelers. It will be a solid Sunday.

Normally tailgating all day long the day before a race isn't the best idea, but since I'm not racing this for time, I'll just consider all the delicious food I'm going to be eating throughout the day part of my pre-race nutrition plan.

After all, sometimes we have healthy food there.
