I need new music

by - Wednesday, January 27, 2010

So Monday's post was my 500th! I didn't realize I was getting so close to the 500 post milestone, and then completely missed it. Whooops!

In other news, my iPod is sorely, sorely outdated. The last time I updated it was to put some Christmas music on it and the time before that, well it was probably this summer. Sad, but true.

Lately I've been really into a whole bunch of the new country stuff that's come out and I just haven't downloaded any of it yet. Admittedly though, some of the country stuff isn't the best for running.

So I'm taking suggestions. What have you all been listening to lately to get you motivated for your runs. I could use some good suggestions.

Side note: I did 30 minutes on the treadmill last night. My hip still isn't quite right. I kept it slow and stopped every 10 minutes to stretch but still by the end it didn't feel great and I could feel my form getting really messed up toward the end. Grrr the frustration continues.

  1. Call me a nerd (nerd!) but my current go-to song is "My Life Would Suck Without You." Seriously, when I feel myself lagging, I crank that up and pick it up. ;)

Country-wise, I'm in love with Keith Urban's "Hit the Ground Running" and Sarah Buxton's "That Kind of Day."

also, that new Lady A "American Honey" is awesome in general... but not for working out haha. ;)

  5. It seems like I am really into the hip hop/ dance version of songs lately for running... I guess the music from BodyPump class is flowing over into my runs. Here's a handful that I love right now:

Imma Be - Black Eyed Peas
    Hey, Soul Sister - Train
    Bad Romance - Lady Gaga
Burn It To the Ground - Nickelback
    Summer of 69 - Remix/Dance Version

  6. Country, really? I guess it is an acquired taste. My running songs seem to gravitate towards late 70's funk bands but to each his own. I'll put some country on the playlist this week though.

Also, be good to your hip and don't push it. It is really hard to not run for a while. Trust me, I know but I hope to run again soon!

  8. I have lots of suggestions, but not sure if you would like the music, especially since you mention that you like country and I would rather have my eyes gouged out than listen to country. We may not have the same tastes ;)

  9. I have been listening to "Black Eyed Peas Radio" on Pandora. Its such a random list and you never know what to expect, but its upbeat and motivating.

I need to redo my Ipod too because I had to resync it to my computer....which means NO songs at all.

  12. Vampire weekend. download some vampire weekend now. i also have to recommend Slow Runner. what running person can't be intrigued by that?

i have been poo-pooing country on my runs lately. i prefer old school 90's hip hop - the driving beats just give me a better rhythm. Nelly, 2pac, dr dre, snoop, all very consistent. kanye west too.

  14. congrats on the big 500! i don't listen to music when i run really, but otherwise i'm just kind of into "today's hits"/hip-hop stuff. i do like country too - but like you said, harder to run to. some of the ones i've recently "tagged" on my shazam app are:

    ego - beyonce/kanye west
young forever - jay z/mr. hudson
    good morning - chamillionaire

the only one i remember the tune for is the jay z song. so i don't know if the other 2 are any good haha.
